Do you have Dog Poo on the brain?

In a Perfect World, we could find dogs doing this..

Animals Large and Small: Obama and PETS>>

something smells here!

Is it my imagination or do many on the net have poo on the brain!? Especially Entrecarders seem to be exasperated by it! Go read what 'Slightly Sarcastic' ,or more commonly known as 'The Admaster' from Entrecaard fame, has to say on poo. Landfills are full of bags of poo in plastic nonrecyclable bags, thrown there by good-natured people trying to do the right thing or atleast follow the law. But..is it really the right thing to do at all?! No..plastic isn't the bag to choose unless it is the good kind that is recyclable and that costs money..hmm what is the answer? brown bag it folks! And I aint talking lunch here,lol..

Some good ideas on waste issue are expressed here but I don't agree to dump it on a compost pile as cats and dogs are carnivores dear and only organic garbage goes on the pile as it is used for fertilizer like in a compost tea bag of cheese cloth and you pour over it with water over your plants. Nice try though! Some blame the dogs for not being as tidy as cats who cover their business. Good grief! What do you do or think? join the discussion here. Leave a comment. My dog will proofread it before me to see if it's worth reading (jk) lol..

  1. Great post! I had absolutely no idea about this as I am one of the guilty who bag dog and cat poo in plastic bags. I will change my methods right away. Thanks for letting me know!

  2. I have a cat now, but even before that I began to awaken to how destructive plastics in general, and bags in particular, are when they are thrown "away" (there is really no "away" when you are talking something that lasts thousands of years).

So, I bought compostable bags, brand name "BioBag" via Internet from Green Home, but I see they are now sold in Whole Foods and other places as well. The problem is, they tear easily, so I only use them when I extract poo from the litter, but for the full litter change, and for kitchen garbage, reality dictates using the old bad kind of bag. At least that is less frequent.

The wall we are hitting here is partially inefficiency, but part of it is also the compromises on sustainability that humanity is forced to make in order to support nearly 7 billion people. That is the subject of many articles....

  3. I throw my biodegradable pine and cedar litter on the compost pile. The pets' poo(cat and dog) goes in the pail and i ad septic(ridex -as eats the bacteria up). Is the best, most ethical way.)

I am a pet pro, alternative health practitioner,Green artist, designer who will be speaking on this topic at the Green FAir. HOpe you can come!

    regards,
